Objective and Purpose of the Assignment

The TA aims to establish an effective cross-border commercial dispute resolution regime in Uzbekistan
through international arbitration reform to create a better investment climate to facilitate more cross-
border trade and investments. The TA will have three outputs:
(i) final draft law on international commercial arbitration to implement the New York Convention and
reflect modern international commercial arbitration standards;
(ii) final draft of ancillary law and/or relevant amendments to procedural codes on recognition and
enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and related international arbitration proceedings; and
(iii) strengthened capacity for international commercial arbitration reform through delivery of capacity
building workshops for judges and lawyers as implementing parties and private sector as users. This
output will be implemented in conjunction with development partners and other organizations.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the ADB TA officers, the project coordinator will assist in the necessary
logistical and administrative arrangements for the workshops under output 3.

Detailed Tasks and/or Expected Output

Detailed tasks will include the following:
(i) provide logistical and administrative support for workshops in Uzbekistan;
(ii)coordinate with Uzbekistan government, ADB departments, ADB’s Uzbekistan resident mission, and other
consultants to deliver the workshops; and
(iii) perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned by the ADB TA officers.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The project coordinator must have (i) at least 15 years’ relevant work experience; (ii) demonstrated
knowledge and understanding of ADB’s operational processes, including ADB’s consulting guidelines and
controller’s requirements; (iii) demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with
limited supervision; (iv) good interpersonal skills; and (v) good oral and written communication skills
in English.
