Objective and Purpose of the Assignment

The main objective of the assignment is for research and enhancement of data visualization (graphs,

tables and maps) for the 51st issue (KI 2021) of the flagship publication Key Indicators for Asia and

the Pacific (KI). The KI 2021 report will feature various infographics and data visualization materials

related to economic, social and environmental statistics for easier understanding of the general public.

Scope of Work

The scope of work includes research, data gathering and data visualization of socio-economic and

environmental indicators for the statistical tables (country, regional, and SDG tables) for KI 2021.

Under the supervision of the ADB project officer, the consultant will work closely with the ADB project

team, specifically performing specific tasks as assigned/discussed.

Detailed Tasks and/or Expected Output

The consultant's tasks are as follows:

i. suggest and create statistical graphs and charts in the analysis of commentaries;

ii. conduct desk research on the latest data visualization tools and templates that would be

incorporated to the various chapters of the KI report;

iii. if needed, the consultant will also compile and validate key indicators for the country, regional

and SDG tables. Given that the contents of the publication are official statistics and require utmost

caution in accurately reflecting the data collected from official national and international sources,

the consultants will be required to undertake the assigned tasks following EROD-SDI prescribed

guidelines and procedures;

iv. assist in integrating and maintaining consistency of data and commentaries across different sections

of the publication and also undertake cross-check with the data in the latest sources of data;

v. work closely with the KI branding team on the enhancement of the contents of the report;

vi. participate in meetings and assist in consolidating the whole KI publication;

vii. perform other related technical and administrative tasks as may be assigned by the Project Officer.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The specialists should have a background in economics, statistics, information technology, or any

related field. He/She is experienced in working with official statistics (statistics produced by

governments) and development indicators in social and economic statistics. He/She should also have

advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and automated business processes and should have excellent

coordination skills. Knowledge in ArcGIS, QGIS and R programming is highly preferred. He/She must also

exercise due diligence in undertaking processes concerning data compilation and validation.

Minimum General Experience: 5 Years
